Foods That Boost Your Mood

Research shows that good nutrition and certain foods can have a positive effect on your mood. So when you're feeling down, instead of reaching for that pint of ice cream, which will ultimately make you feel worse, reach for one of these 5 foods to boost your mood. (Or reach for a few (hint: recipe at the end)

1. Omegas: There are studies that suggest omega-3 fatty acids positively affect the brain and stimulate feel goof hormones

2. Fiber rich foods: oatmeal, beans, citrus fruits, berries, peas, and apples all contain soluble fiber that slow the absorption of glucose in the blood which creates a more stable blood sugar thus a better more stable mood.

3. Green tea and red tea. Green tea contains an antioxidant known as theanine, which acts as a calming agent.Studies show that red tea (Rooibos) can alleviate the symptoms of depression. (source nutritionresponsetesting.com)

4. Fruits and Veggies: leafy greens like spinach and kale, as well as broccoli, berries, bananas, and oranges have all shown to have mood boosting properties.

5. Sufficient Vitamin D levels. Eating foods rich in Vitamin D or taking a walk in sunshine can boost mood immensely. Here are some foods rich in Vitamin D: grass fed red meat, egg yolks, and raw dairy.

In 1986, Dr. Martin Furlong opened MetroEast Chiropractic providing exceptional chiropractic care to hundreds of patients in the East Metro area and then expanding into serving thousands of patients from the suburbs of St. Paul-Minneapolis.

After years of successfully treating patients with Chiropractic Care, he noticed a decline in how long some patients would hold an adjustment and an increase in dysfunction, illness and disease among the general population. His research concluded that many of these issues were due to increased exposure to environmental toxins and poor diets which included processed foods, chemical additives, added antibiotics and hormones, and lacked in real living food. Americans were toxic and nutritionally deprived and it was causing an extreme rise in obesity, illness and disease which resulted in daily pain, dysfunction, and even early death.

In 2009, after his search for natural health remedies that would help people start real healing, Dr. Furlong discovered Nutrition Response Testing®. He spent the next several years becoming advanced clinically trained in its methodology.

The success was immediate - using Nutrition Response Testing® and Chiropractic - he was finally getting the results he had known were possible. Patients began attaining life-changing results to their health that lasted.

Since successfully incorporating Nutrition Response Testing® into the practice, MetroEast Natural Healing Center is now receiving patients from as far as the upper Midwest states, and even referrals from all over the country.
